Thrill of the Grill Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING. SUBJECT TO FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
2. Eligibility. Subject to the additional restrictions below, the Thrill of the Grill Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa who are 18 years or older at the time of entry. Employees of Argus Leader Media, Lewis Drugs (“Sponsors”), and Gannett Co., Inc., and each of their respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees, are not eligible to enter or to win.
3. How To Enter. The Entry Period for The Thrill of the Grill will begin at 12:01 a.m. (CT) on May 14, 2010 and end at 11:59 p.m. (CT) on May 20, 2010 (the “Entry Period”).
There will be three (3) Grill-Offs – one for each of the Beef, Pork and Poultry categories. The Beef Grill-Off will take place Saturday, May 29, 2010. The Pork Grill-Off will be Saturday, June 5, 2010, The Poultry Grill-Off will be Saturday, June 12, 2010. The Final Grand Prize Grill-Off between the winners of each of the 3 categories will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010. (the “Grill-Off Periods”) The entire Contest Period will begin at 12:01 a.m. (C.T.) and end at the end of the Grand Prize Grill-Off, Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Internet Entry Only: Enter by visiting the “Thrill of the Grill” official registration page on the Argus Leader website (www.argusleader.com/lewisgrill) and completing all of the required information and following all posted instructions. Enter one (1) original recipe in one of three (3) categories – Beef, Pork, or Poultry. You may enter 1 recipe in each of the 3 categories, but multiple entries in each category will be disqualified. To be eligible all recipes must be the sole, original work of the entrant. Previously published recipes or those that have won previous awards or competitions will be disqualified. Your computer must accept cookies, or any successor or similar technology, which may be used for the purpose of entry tracking. Ad blocking software on your computer needs to be disabled so that it doesn’t interfere with processing your entry. Complete the entry form and any other required fields and then submit your entry by clicking on the “SEND” button. By entering, you agree to the terms of these Official Rules and to receive e-mails from Sponsors or those directed by Sponsors. You can opt-out of the receipt of such e-mails by following the directions on the Contest website or in any email received from Sponsors. If you don’t have access to a computer you may visit the offices of Argus Leader Media at 200 S. Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Monday through Friday during the Contest Period and complete the entry form on one of our computers. Only one (1) recipe entry in each of the 3 categories will be eligible.
Sponsors will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, or for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or Sponsors. In the event of a dispute, all online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the ISP account from which they were sent. For these purposes, an ISP account holder shall mean the natural person assigned to such ISP account by the Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning ISP addresses for the domain associated with such ISP account. All entries become property of Sponsors and none will be returned. Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted or the owner of an ISP account shall be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion, and Sponsors reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest. All entries become the property of Sponsors and none will be returned. Contestants acknowledge and agree that Sponsors shall have the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote, or otherwise display or use entries in any way it sees fit without limitation or compensation to entrants. Sponsors further reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is alleged to infringe on any third-party’s intellectual property rights, or that Sponsors deem obscene, offensive or otherwise inappropriate for a general audience.
4. Prizes and Odds. Five (5) first round recipes for each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) will be determined by a random drawing of all entries received in each category. The fifteen (15) first-round Contestants will be notified by May 26, 2010. These Contestants will each receive the following:
3 First Place winners in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) will receive a $200.00 Lewis Drug Gift Card (Total ARV: $600.00)
3 Second Place winners in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) winners will receive a $100.00 Lewis Drug Gift Card (Total ARV: $300.00)
3 Third Place winners in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) will a receive $75.00 Lewis Drug Gift Card (Total ARV: $225.00)
3 Forth Place winners in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) will receive a $50.00 Lewis Drug Gift Card (Total ARV: $150.00)
3 Fifth Place winners in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) will receive a $25.00 Lewis Drug Gift Card (Total ARV: $75.00)
One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a Weber Grill (ARV $700), $300 worth of gift certificates for meat to be redeemed at local grocery stores (Total ARV: $1000.00)
5.Winner Selection. Five (5) contestants will be chosen in each category (Beef, Pork, and Poultry) in random drawings to be held on or about Friday, May 21, 2010. Each of the fifteen (15) randomly-selected contestants must be available to participate in a Grill-Off in their category - Beef May 29, 2010 at 2700 W. 12th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57104, Pork June 5, 2010 at 4409 E. 26th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57103, and Poultry June 12, 2010 at 5500 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57106 where each contestant will cook their entered recipe.
The First (1st) Place winner in each of the 3categories will be selected by a panel of qualified judges based on the following criteria:
Taste – from 1 to 10 points;
Presentation – from 1 to 10 points;
Originality of Recipe – from 1 to 10 points.
The contestant in each of the 3 categories with the most points out of a total possible 30 points will be the determined First (1st) Place Winner and must be available to participate in the Grand Prize Grill-Off to take place Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 500 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57105.
The Grand Prize Winner will be selected by a panel of qualified judges according to the same criteria described above. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be re-judged on the same criteria. Decisions of judges and Sponsors shall be final and binding in all respects.
6. Winner Notification and Acceptance. Fifteen (15) contestants (one in each of the 3 categories) will be notified by May 26, 2010 at the email address or telephone number provided in the online registration for the “Thrill of the Grill” contest. Return of an email prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate contestant may be selected from among all remaining eligible entries. Sponsors will call during regular business hours at number provided on entry form and will leave no messages. Failure to reach contestant by phone after three (3) attempts may results in disqualification of contestant, forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes, and se4lection of a substitute contestant from among all remaining eligible entries. The 3 First Round Grill-Off Winners will be notified at the appropriate first round Grill-Off competition on one of dates listed above. Grand Prize Winner will be notified on or about June 19, 2010 at the finale of the Grand Prize Grill-Off. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. No substitutions allowed by winner. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes. Winners may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability certifying that the entrant’s submission is entrant’s original work, that entrant owns right to the work, that the submission has not previously won an award or prize in a contest and has not previously been published, and that entrant has complied with the Official Rules of the Contest and publicity release which must be returned as directed by Sponsors. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winner’s consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation the Internet, or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsors.
7. Participation. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsors. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsors. In the event the Contest is compromised by a virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsors which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, Sponsors reserve the right in their sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsors reserve the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date.
9.Construction. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
10.Sponsor. The “Thrill of the Grill” is sponsored by Argus Leader Media and Lewis Drug. The decisions of Sponsors regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsors will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Contest.
